Jeremy Morton qualified as a solicitor with Simmons &
Simmons in 1991 and became a partner in 1998. He
advises on contentious and non-contentious aspects
of intellectual property and has a specialist focus on
electronic commerce. His e-commerce clients include
service providers, network operators, web consultants
and content providers in addition to more traditional
bsinesses. Since the announcement of proposals for
the new European data protection laws he has also
advised many clients on the implications of these
developments for their businesses, including the
provision of compliance audits. He is Chairman of the
Intellectual Property Institute’s Multimedia Sub-Committee.
His ecent work includes advising major corporations on
compliance with new data protection laws; advising on
terms for the joint supply of broadband interactive services;
due diligence in proposed mergers and acquisitions concerning
businesses such as ISPs and games providers; Samsung -v-
Fujitsu (High Court patent action concerning DRAMs); and
setting a US web company up in business in the UK.
