Instructing A Barrister

Taking The First Step With A Legal Problem

Most people, faced with a legal problem, will visit a local solicitor or citizens’ advice bureau. In criminal proceedings the first point of contact is usually with a duty solicitor at the police station or in the magistrates’ court. In a civil case it is essential to get advice on whether to fight or settle the claim.

Whatever the nature of the problem, it is important at an early stage to decide whether to bring in a barrister. Solicitors have good working relationships with barristers and will help to advise you on the best course of action.
